Craftsmanship & Details

The Folly Swing starts with primed kiln-dried pressure-treated pine throughout the frame, arms, and back supports — top-shelf material chosen specifically to stand up to what a Lowcountry porch demands. The arms and back horizontal slats are built from 2×4 stock, topped with a solid oak armrest for a smooth, comfortable rest. Posts are special-order S4S pine at 2¼" × 2¼", a profile that sits right in the middle of our lineup — more substantial than the slender Painted ION, more approachable than the bolder Charleston. Front posts stand 20" tall and back posts 26", giving the swing its relaxed, slightly reclined seating angle, all framed in 1½" × 4½" primed pressure-treated kiln-dried pine.

We build every porch swing using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, reinforced at every corner with 6-inch construction lag screws. Charleston's humidity puts real stress on wood joints over time — even a well-cut mortise and tenon can work loose as the wood expands and contracts through our seasons. The lag screws are our answer to that: they lock each joint firmly in place, so your swing stays solid and tight for years to come, not just when it's new.

The Folly features a 2¼" wide oak armrest and a 26" back height, built for a relaxed, all-afternoon kind of comfort. Black and white are included at no additional cost — if you'd rather match a specific look, we'll custom-match any Sherwin-Williams color for $100 and send along extra paint for future touch-ups. Every painted swing is finished with Sherwin-Williams® FORTE® Exterior Acrylic Urethane, a premium coating built for exactly this kind of climate — resisting fading, peeling, cracking, and blistering even through the Lowcountry's intense sun and humidity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it named after Folly Beach?

Folly Beach is Charleston's easygoing barrier island — known for salt air, weathered boardwalks, and a shrug-it-off, beach-town pace. This swing carries that same unhurried character. No pretense, just a good place to sit.

What kind of home does the Folly suit best?

Beach cottages, coastal bungalows, and any Lowcountry porch that wants to feel a little more relaxed. The Folly brings an easy, barefoot warmth — it's built for a porch that's meant to be lived on rather than just looked at.

What size should I choose?

The Twin (75"×38") is our most popular size for two adults. If you have a smaller porch or want a swing for one, the Small Single (75"×30") is a great fit. We'll measure your space at the consultation and give you a clear recommendation.

How long does it take to receive my swing?

Most swings are delivered within 3 weeks of placing your order. We'll confirm the exact timeline at your consultation.

Do you deliver and install in the Charleston area?

Yes. We serve Mount Pleasant, Charleston, Daniel Island, James Island, Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms, and the surrounding Lowcountry. Installation is available as an add-on for $350 and includes full hanging and leveling at your home.

What if I'm not happy with it?

Every Dainty Leaf swing comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. We stand behind our craftsmanship and we want you to love what we build for you.
