Craftsmanship & Details
The Hibben is built from premium 2×4" pine for the back horizontal slats and arm structure, topped with a solid 2½" oak armrest that provides a natural contrast and a comfortable resting place. Our signature posts are specially ordered S4S (surfaced on all four sides) pine at 2¼" × 2¼" — a profile that's slimmer than the Charleston but more substantial than the ION, giving the Hibben its distinctive, refined look. The frame is constructed from 1½" × 4½" premium pine, creating a strong foundation designed for years of dependable use.
The Hibben is built using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery — one of the strongest woodworking techniques available. Because Charleston's humid climate causes wood to naturally expand and contract throughout the seasons, we reinforce every mortise-and-tenon joint with 6-inch structural lag screws at each corner, ensuring the swing remains solid, square, and wobble-free for years to come.
The Hibben's 2¼" × 2¼" posts and three horizontal back slats give it a clean, modern silhouette with a 26" back height and a 2½" solid oak armrest. We finish every painted Hibben Swing with Sherwin-Williams® FORTE® Exterior Acrylic Urethane — a premium exterior coating that resists fading, peeling, cracking, and blistering in the intense sun, high humidity, and salt air of the South Carolina Lowcountry. Black or white is included; any custom Sherwin-Williams color is available for an additional $100.

We use Sherwin-Williams Forte™ paint — a premium, urethanized acrylic coating designed for exterior use. Black or white paint is included. Any additional color is (+$100).
