Craftsmanship & Details

The Hibben is built from premium primed kiln-dried pressure treated pine 2×4s for the arms and back horizontal slats, topped with a solid oak armrest for a smooth, comfortable rest. We special-order S4S premium primed kiln-dried pressure treated pine posts at 2¼" × 2¼" — a profile that sits right in the middle of our lineup, smaller than the bolder Charleston but larger than the slender Painted ION. The frame is constructed from 1½" × 4½" premium primed kiln-dried pressure treated pine, with front posts standing 20" tall and back posts at 26", giving the swing its relaxed, slightly reclined seating angle. Every piece is chosen to hold up against Charleston's heat, humidity, and salt air without losing its shape or its comfort.

We build every porch swing using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, reinforced at every corner with 6-inch construction lag screws. Charleston's humidity puts real stress on wood joints over time — even a well-cut mortise and tenon can work loose as the wood expands and contracts through our seasons. The lag screws are our answer to that: they lock each joint firmly in place, so your swing stays solid and tight for years to come, not just when it's new.

The Hibben features a 2½" wide oak armrest and a 26" back height. Black or white color options are included at no additional cost. If you'd like a custom Sherwin-Williams color, we're happy to accommodate your selection for an additional $100 — and we'll provide the remaining paint for future touch-ups. We finish every painted swing with Sherwin-Williams® FORTE® Exterior Acrylic Urethane, a premium exterior coating that resists fading, peeling, cracking, and blistering even in the intense sun, high humidity, and changing weather conditions of the South Carolina Lowcountry.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Hibben different from your other swings?

The Hibben sits right in the middle of our lineup — its 2¼" posts are more substantial than the slender Painted ION but not as bold as the Charleston. Three horizontal back slats and clean lines give it a modern, sophisticated look that works equally well on a coastal porch, a farmhouse, or a contemporary home.

What neighborhood is the Hibben named after?

The Hibben is named after the Hibben neighborhood in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina — known for its breathtaking live oak trees, graceful canopies, and classic Lowcountry beauty. Like its namesake, this swing is designed to be a place to slow down and enjoy life's simple moments.

What size should I choose?

The Twin (75"×38") is our most popular size for two adults. If you have a smaller porch, a crib size or small single may be a better fit. We'll customize the swing size based on your joist layout and porch dimensions.

How long does it take to receive my swing?

Most swings are delivered within 3 weeks of placing your order. We'll confirm the exact timeline at your consultation.

Do you deliver and install in the Charleston area?

Yes. We serve Mount Pleasant, Charleston, Daniel Island, James Island, Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms, and the surrounding Lowcountry. Installation is available as an add-on for $350 and includes full hanging and leveling at your home.

What if I'm not happy with it?

Every Dainty Leaf swing comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. We stand behind our craftsmanship and we want you to love what we build for you.
