Craftsmanship & Details

Every Dainty Leaf porch swing is handcrafted using carefully selected materials chosen for both beauty and long-term durability. We use 1⅝" × 1⅝" premium primed kiln-dried pressure treated pine for the double-X back braces. The arm supports are 1" × 5½" premium primed kiln-dried pressure treated pine, paired with a 3½-inch solid oak armrest that provides a beautiful contrast while creating the perfect place to rest a glass of sweet tea or your favorite book.

Our signature 4×4 posts (actual size 3½" × 3½") are specially ordered from a local sawmill with premium Southern Yellow Pine that is surfaced on all four sides for a smooth, furniture-quality appearance. The frame is constructed from 1½" × 4½" premium primed kiln-dried pressure treated pine, creating a strong foundation designed to provide years of dependable use. To protect the swing from the elements, we install oak armrests and cedar post caps, chosen for their natural resistance to moisture, decay, and insects — cedar performs exceptionally well in the heat, humidity, and coastal conditions of the South Carolina Lowcountry.

We build every porch swing using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, reinforced at every corner with 6-inch construction lag screws. Charleston's humidity puts real stress on wood joints over time — even a well-cut mortise and tenon can work loose as the wood expands and contracts through our seasons. The lag screws are our answer to that: they lock each joint firmly in place, so your swing stays solid and tight for years to come, not just when it's new.

The substantial 3½" × 3½" special-ordered posts and cedar post caps give the Old Village Swing its bold, architectural presence. Its clean lines and timeless proportions complement everything from historic Charleston homes to modern coastal cottages. The front posts are 18 inches tall and the back posts are 26 inches. Black or white is included at no additional cost; any custom Sherwin-Williams color is available for an additional $100 with the remaining paint provided for touch-ups. We finish every painted swing with Sherwin-Williams® FORTE® Exterior Acrylic Urethane, which resists fading, peeling, cracking, and blistering in the intense Lowcountry sun and humidity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Old Village different from your other swings?

The Old Village features our signature double-X back brace design, giving it a farmhouse-meets-Lowcountry character. The substantial 3½" × 3½" posts and solid oak armrests give it a bold, grounded presence — a swing built to be enjoyed for generations.

What is the Old Village neighborhood?

The Old Village is the historic heart of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina — known for its centuries-old oak trees, quiet streets, and welcoming front porches. This swing is designed to feel like it belongs there.

What size should I choose?

The Twin (75"×38") is our most popular size for two adults. If you have a smaller porch, a crib size or small single may be a better fit. We'll customize the swing size based on your joist layout and porch dimensions.

How long does it take to receive my swing?

Most swings are delivered within 3 weeks of placing your order. We'll confirm the exact timeline at your consultation.

Do you deliver and install in the Charleston area?

Yes. We serve Mount Pleasant, Charleston, Daniel Island, James Island, Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms, and the surrounding Lowcountry. Installation is available as an add-on for $350 and includes full hanging and leveling at your home.

What if I'm not happy with it?

Every Dainty Leaf swing comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. We stand behind our craftsmanship and we want you to love what we build for you.
