The Painted ION is built from special-order premium primed kiln-dried pressure treated pine, milled to a slim 1⅝" × 1⅝" for the arms and back horizontal slats — our smallest profile in the collection, equally at home tucked into a cozy nook or scaled up for a larger porch. The frame is constructed from 1½" × 4½" premium primed kiln-dried pressure treated pine, with front posts standing 18" tall and back posts at 26", giving the swing its relaxed, slightly reclined seating angle. Every piece is chosen to hold up against Charleston's heat, humidity, and salt air without losing its shape or its comfort.

We build every porch swing using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, reinforced at every corner with 6-inch construction lag screws. Charleston's humidity puts real stress on wood joints over time — even a well-cut mortise and tenon can work loose as the wood expands and contracts through our seasons. The lag screws are our answer to that: they lock each joint firmly in place, so your swing stays solid and tight for years to come, not just when it's new.

The 1⅝" × 1⅝" profile runs all around, complementing the 1½" × 4½" frame, with a 26" back height. We customize the length and depth to fit your porch space — normal depth is usually between 32" and 38". Black or white color options are included at no additional cost. If you'd like a custom Sherwin-Williams color, we're happy to accommodate your selection for an additional $100 — and we'll provide the remaining paint for future touch-ups. We finish every painted swing with Sherwin-Williams® FORTE® Exterior Acrylic Urethane, which resists fading, peeling, cracking, and blistering in the Lowcountry's intense sun and humidity.
